Brachychiton “Bottle Tree”

General Care Sheet

Light: Direct sun is ideal. Several if not more hours of direct sun rays keeps these trees growing their best.

Water: Watering will be infrequent. Water thoroughly when you do, but allow the soil to dry entirely. A thick tap root and, in some species, an enlarged trunk serve for water storage. When in doubt: Always err on the side of too dry versus too wet as it is going to be much easier to remedy.

Environment: A rich but well-draining soil blend is great. You can use a succulent mix or a 50/50 blend of light potting soil and a succulent blend. Avoid temperatures lower than 50 degrees.

Toxicity: These trees are not considered toxic to dogs, cats or humans..

Of Note:

  • Many trees may experience seasonal dormancy.

Clean leaves routinely as a preventative measure.

*When planting in a pot without a drainage hole, avoid over watering by estimating 25% of the container’s overall volume, with appropriate drainage materials incorporated when planting.
