Tropical Indoor Plants / Houseplants

Care Sheet

Light: Different plants differ slightly in the amount of light they like. Solid green leaf varieties tolerate lower light but varieties with white, yellow and green variegation do best in bright indirect to filtered sun. Generally, they may grow smaller leaves with less variegation in low light, and more variegation and larger leaves in stronger light, as an example. Often, thicker, glossier leaves will prefer the brightest spots even some soft filtered sun while thinner and more delicate leaves will prefer bright, but certainly indirect natural light.

Water: Water your pothos thoroughly until the soil is saturated and all the excess water has drained out the bottom. Similar to lighting, watering can be reasonably assumed from the plants’ structures. Thick leaves belong to plants that like a slight dry time before they’re watered, while those that are finer or thinner will prefer more consistent watering. Always avoid standing water or water-logged soil.

Environment: Average home temperatures are suitable (between 55 and 80 degrees). If temperatures drop too low, it will stop growing and the leaves will turn black. Basic household humidity is sufficient for many although ferns and delicate plants do appreciate a little extra, much like their watering needs.

Toxicity: Varies by plant type.
