Phlegmariurus & Huperzia - “Tassel Fern”
Tassel Ferns are rare and delicate houseplants. Their unique cascading habits makes them a great choice for a hanging basket.
Light: The brightest light will suit your Tassel Fern well. Allowing some soft morning sun or brief dappled rays is also great. Avoid any harsh sun as this can quickly stress and burn the delicate leaves.
Water: Watering will be frequent, often several times per week or almost daily in warm / brightly light scenarios. They should be planted in a chunky medium (like coco coir pieces) which does not hold water well. Thus frequent soaks of water will be key to a happy plant..
Environment: A humid cushion is great for these plants. As they’re watered often, rinse the whole plant in doing so. This shower will help provide the ambient moisture they rely on.
Toxicity: Reported to be toxic if ingested. While this is commonly called a “Tassel Fern” it is not a true fern…
*When planting in a pot without a drainage hole, avoid over watering by estimating 25% of the container’s overall volume, with appropriate drainage materials incorporated when planting.
