Xanthosoma Care
Xanthosoma is a genus of flowering plant in the Araceae family. Native to tropical America. Leaves are generally arrowhead shaped or subdivided.
Light: part sun to part shade depending on type
Water: dry down 5% depending on type
Environment: Loves humidity. Can be potted with regular potting mix.
Toxicity: Reported to be toxic in its raw form
Habit / SIze: This herbaceous perennial can vary in size depending on type.
Of Note:
- Some Xanthosoma have a common name of “Elephant Ear”. This common name is also applied to other genera that are closely related to Xanthosoma. Namely Caladium, Colocasia and Alocasia.
*When planting in a pot without a drainage hole, help avoid over watering by estimating 25% of the container’s overall volume, with appropriate drainage materials incorporated when planting.
