Ficus carica

edible fig

Light: This Ficus needs ample sun rays during the spring and summer growing season. Placing your tree outdoors will give it the best exposure, however a very sunny window (typically west or south exposure) can work well, too.

Water: Water fully, but allow the soil to dry well in-between watering. During the growing season You can water freely if the tree is kept outdoors. During its winter rest, watering will be very infrequent.

Environment: Provide stable conditions for this tree avoiding any indoor disturbances like air vents. During the autumn / winter rest, cooler conditions are totally appropriate.

Toxicity:  This plant is reported to be toxic to Cats and Dogs

Of Note:

Winter dormancy can be full or partial and watering / care routine should be modified as this cycle inevitably occurs.

*When planting in a pot without a drainage hole, avoid over watering by estimating 25% of the container’s overall volume, with appropriate drainage materials incorporated when planting.
