Muehlenbeckia is a genus in the Polygonaceae family native to the borders of the Pacific. They have deep dark green leaves that range from lance shape to ovate and are arranged alternately on the stem.

Toxicity: Reported to be nontoxic but no solid report found


Habit / SIze: Growth habit varies by species from shrub to perennials to vines

  • Muehlenbeckia have rhizomatic roots
  • Muehlenbeckia axillaris is a vining variety and makes for a great houseplant. Also fantastic as an annual in outdoor containers. Flowers are inconspicuous. Can handle dry to touch once established.
