Maranta leuconeura 'Silver Band,' commonly known as "prayer plant," is a species of flowering plant in the family Marantaceae. It gets its common name from the fact that its leaves stay flat during the day, then fold up like praying hands at night. The prayer plant is one of the most distinguishable tropicals, thanks to its beautiful decorative leaves. This Maranta has a broad patch of silver/green at the center of each otherwise dark green leaf.
