Year of the Horse Cup

Sale price$14.00

This item is available to ship

Make every year the year of the horse with this wonderful Japanese teacup! People born in the year of the horse are outgoing, independent, generous, and enthusiastic.  Their optimism is reflected in the script on the back of the cup - nanigotomo umakuiku -  which translates into "Everything will be okay." The phrase uma-ku-iku uses a cute wordplay of uma ( 馬)or "horse" and ku(九) or "nine."  Because of this, nine horses are considered a symbol of good luck and are often used as a theme for folk art.
